Privacy & cookies

Last updated: 24 October 2026

This notice explains how we use your personal information when you visit this website or send us an enquiry.

Who is responsible for your information?

The Acting Masters (TAM) is operated by Derek Barr, a sole trader based in Wales, United Kingdom. Derek Barr is the controller responsible for the information described in this notice. For privacy questions or requests, email team@theactingmasters.com.

What we collect and why

Enquiries. When you use our contact form, we collect your first and last name, email address and message. If you email us directly, we receive the information you choose to send. We use it to answer your question and carry out any follow-up you request. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact TAM. Where you ask us to take steps towards providing a service, we may process the necessary details to take those steps before entering a contract.

The form’s required fields help us respond. You do not have to contact us, but we may be unable to answer without enough information. Please send only what is needed for your enquiry and avoid including sensitive personal information. Sending an enquiry does not sign you up to a marketing mailing list.

Website operation and security. Our website provider, Squarespace, processes technical information such as your IP address, browser, device and network details, referring pages and pages viewed. This helps deliver the website, diagnose problems and prevent misuse. We rely on our legitimate interest in running a reliable, secure website.

Optional analytics. With your consent, Squarespace analytics cookies help us understand how people use the website and improve it. You can refuse these cookies or change your choice as described below.

Cookies and your choices

Essential cookies support the website’s operation, security and your saved privacy choices. Optional cookies support analytics. Optional Squarespace cookies are restricted until you choose to accept them.

Use Accept all, Decline all or Manage cookies in the cookie banner. You can revisit your choice through Cookie Preferences. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before you withdrew it. Your browser also lets you remove or block cookies, although blocking essential cookies may affect how the site works.

Our contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to help prevent spam, fraud and abuse. It processes technical and interaction signals to assess whether activity is legitimate and may set the necessary _GRECAPTCHA security cookie. Google processes this information to provide the protection service. This security processing is separate from optional website analytics.

More detail is available in Squarespace’s cookie information.

Who handles your information?

Squarespace hosts the website and processes contact-form submissions. Enquiries are delivered to our team mailbox through our email service. Authorised TAM team members can access the information needed to respond. Google provides the reCAPTCHA protection described above. We may also share relevant information with professional advisers or authorities where necessary to meet legal obligations or deal with a legal claim.

Membership links and other websites

Our membership buttons take you to the TAM community on Skool. Account creation, membership payments and community activity take place there, rather than on this website. Review Skool’s privacy policy and the notices presented there. This website notice does not describe every aspect of TAM membership or training records; contact us if you have a question about information used for those services.

Where information is processed

Our service providers may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Squarespace describes its international-transfer safeguards, including applicable adequacy arrangements and contractual protections, in its Data Processing Addendum. Contact us for more information about the safeguards relevant to your information.

How long we keep information

We keep enquiries for the time needed to respond, complete requested follow-up and maintain relevant correspondence. We consider whether the enquiry is resolved, whether there is an ongoing relationship, and any applicable legal or dispute requirements. Information should be deleted or anonymised when it is no longer needed for these purposes. Cookie lifetimes vary by purpose; Squarespace’s cookie information linked above gives further details.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask for access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction of use or a portable copy. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it. These rights have legal conditions and exceptions.

To make a request or raise a concern, email team@theactingmasters.com. We may need to check your identity before responding. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
